AFL Training

Group A went to play AFL.

First Group A went down the feild and talked what we learned.

Next we talked about new and the same skills first skill was pass/ hand ball then kick, then mark and tip off and rack. Our couch Bex.

Then we needed 3 parters and we did a tip off. A tip off is like a baskball tip off one couch and two players and when the couch catch it up the players have to get the ball and put the ball on your team and catch the ball and play.

After we also did the rack. It was fun we had to catch the ball with two skill first you have to make a w and put it on top of your head and try and catch the ball with that skill. The next skill is another catchng skill we had to catch the ball if it is down go on your nee if the ball is high go back to try and catch.

We played a new game called island and lake with couch Bex. We had to kick the ball to the other island and they have to catch the ball and kick it. If they don't catch the ball the island will broke and the other team wins.

America's Cup

I lerant about the America's Cup.

First we read a bunch of text and had to find the main ideas. The main ideas are who, what, where, when, why.

We had to write 20 words from our main ideas. The we needed to find 6 important words from this list. Finally we made a few sentences with our important words.

Next we did a evaluarting. Evaluarting is a solo activity that thinks about what the text was about. Interesting facts have your learnt from reading the text and why, what questions do you have after reading.

I think using these strategies are helpful because they allow readers to sort information from multiple texts and gain information quickly.

Visualisation The Highway Rat

We were doing a visualisation about the highway rat.

The highway rat is a rat. Next he was stealing people's food. He was stealing sheep's cothes when he wanted a cake. Then he stall a more food. He stall ant's food, cat's food, he also stall his horse food.

After the highway rat he saw a duck and didn't have food. Then he said "you have no food so I am going to eat you." It was fun doing this some of us were closeing our eyes.

Visualisation is something that is a picture that helps you that show you drawing without words

Visualisation helps you because if people are deaf you can draw pictures so they understand.

Visualisation is something that sometimes helps you with work and shows whats differnt and what is the same.

Place Value and Saying Numbers

Place value is a system that groups numbers based on their size.

The position of a digit determines its value. When we say numbers we group then within the same house. For example 15709 has fifteen thousands, seven hundreds and nine ones.

Mihi Whakatau

Mihi Whakatau is a Maori term for a formal greeting.

Mihi Whakatau is a traditonally used for welcoming introductions and openings. It is undertaken by the Tangata whenua (local inhabitants).

The mihi needs to acknowledge the significant aspects to the place. The Maunga (mountain), Awa (river), and iwi (tribe) are generally used.

Introducing Ingoa (name), Oku tipuna (ancestral place) and where you live is important for the audience to understand the position of the speaker.

Mauhiri is the term used to describe or group the visitors that are being welcomed.

It is important to end with warm welcome so the visitors know that there is no hostility in the 2 groups being together.

Being respectful of the land, the people and the purpose of a visit will ensure long lasting relationships and connections.

AFL Training

Group A was playing AFL stands for Aussie Rules.

First group A went to the field.

We learn two skills first was the passed we had to do a dinner plate and a fist to pass the ball. The second skill is kicking the ball. Then we had to make a m and we had to but the m on the laces.

Next the ball have to be down to your leg but not all the way down so the person didn't get the ball and it is faster to kick the ball and you have to make your ball facing to your target.

We practiced how to pass and kick. We played octopus with our passing skills.

Then we played with our teacher and our coach jack. We practiced to kick the ball to our coach and teacher. The coach got hit two times and our teacher got hit 0 times.

LS1 Treaty

We learnt about the 3 Ps in the Treaty of Waitangi, and how they apply to our learning.

First Mr Ogilvie introduced the 3 Ps in the Treaty of Waitangi. They are protection, partnership and participation.

Then in groups we wrote statements about our 3 Ps are all connected.

After that we used our group ideas and thought about how they connected to me.

I chose these 3 statements because they will help me be  successful with my learning in Ls1. I chose these statements because it helps people to care about each others.
