SLJ Activity 1

 I found photos for my SLJ activity.

First I did a SLJ activity about finding photos that I'm going to do in the summer. I used 15 photos for the activity. 

Second I had to take photos of animals, places I'll go and things I'll do in the summer. I did the places I'll go, like travelling. 

Last I did photos like anime, friends and family. I found photos of things like gaming, swimming in the pool, and visiting my cousins. 

I enjoyed this task because it was about my summer and telling people what I'll do for my summer.

Lettuce Planting

I planted lettuce.

First I planted my seed in the soil. I used a water bottle for the soil.

Next I watered the soil. Then I fulled the inside of the planter box with water.

Last there was mould growing in the soil. The yellow mould has some spots all over the soil.Since there was mould we had to throw our plants away.

I learnt alot of the mould and planting my seeds. The cause of the mould may have came from the dirty water bottles I used.

Lettuce Information

Lettuce is a common vegetable.

Lettuce is in lots of cooking like bugers, tacos, salad, and other dishes.

Lettuce is a vegetable that is a good plant. It's a cold climate.

Lettuce is in lots of cooking like Western cooking.

Lettuce is a cold climate that is good with fast food or work out food.

Line Art

Line art can make a cool curves by using lines. Line art is a type of drawing people do just with a pencil and ruler.

First I drawed a basic shape using a Y axis and a X axis. To make it easy I drew numbers 1 to 10. I drew the numbers in the intersection. I used basic colours to make it look cool.

Next I drew a star to make it a little harder. The star was hard to draw and make. 

Lastly, I made a star and made a circle in the background of the star.  

I enjoyed this task because it made a cool design. I want to get better at making my star because my ruler moved everytime when I ruled my lines.

Potting Plants

How to grow lettuce. Lettuce uses planter boxes and potting mix. Legionella longbeachae is a bacteria that can spread sickness and maybe will kill anyone can die to this bacteria. 

Materials: 

• potting mix     
• trowel 
• mask 
• gloves
• seeds 
• bottle of water 
•  planter box.

Steps:

1. Use your trowel and put potting mix inside the planter box. 
   
   
   
2. Make a hole inside of the potting mix. 
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
3. Put the seeds inside of the potting mix. 
   
   
   
   
4. Put a little bit of water on top of the potting mix.

QAR and Synthesis

My group and I were making a synthesis and a QAR.

First we did did synthesis. Synthesis has a prior knowledge, new information, and new understanding. 

Prior knowledge is that they already know about the title. New information is that you don't know what is in the text. New understandings is if you agree or don't agree.

Last we did a QAR. QAR has four boxes right here, think and search, author and you, and on my own. There are ten questions that you have to answer.

Smart Media

I learnt about currency and relevance.

Currency is when it was made and was updated. Relevance is if the text about things tells a lot of information. The texts are moon facts, how to shot put, and tree animals.

How to shot put was June 14 2018. Moon facts was August 6th 2021. Tree animals was created in 1998-3-8 and updated 2020-2-7.

How to shot put kinda teachs me. Moon facts teachs me a lot. Tree animals doesn't teach me anything. 

 

Skip Counting and Repeated Addition

Sam has 7 five dollar notes. How many money does Sam have? The question is telling that we have to solve 7 x 5. 

Step 1 solve repeated addition is 5+5+5+5+5+5+5. 

Step two solve the skip counting is 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35. So the answer is 35.

Mike was at the beach for five days and collected 14 seashells to keep each day. The question is telling we have to solve 14 x 5. 

Step 1 solve the repeated addtion is 14+14+14+14+14. 

Step two solve the skip counting is 14, 28, 42, 56, 70. So the answer is 70.

Different Opinion

I was learning opinions and other people had different opinions.

First we looked at a picture of an animal. When I looked at the animal and thought what it looked like. In my opinion I saw a rabbit but other people could see a duck.

Then I was looking at the legs of an elephant. In my opinion there were 5 legs and it was trying to trick us. There are 5 completed legs and one fake leg.

I enjoyed this task and learning optical illusions. 

How To Write Compound Sentences

There are three steps in a compound sentence using a simple sentence: a fanboy, and another simple sentence.

A compound sentence has a 2 actors, 2 actions, 1 comma, and 1 fanboy. A compound sentence is 2 simple sentences stuck together to write a compound sentence.

A compound sentence is using 1 FANBOY, 1 comma, 2 actors, 2 actions.

Party Popper

My company, Designer Builders, completed a party popper and checked if it worked.

First Designer Builders had to draw a design and chose Harry Potter. Designer Builders draw Harry Potter's name, his glasses, him riding on a broom, and his scarf. Designer Builders finished drawing Harry Potter on the party popper cup for the design.

Next when the design for the party popper was done we did the half tooth pick and the rubber band. The Designer Builders did the rubber band first then the half tooth pick. The Designer Builders tested the rubber band and the half tooth pick in the party popper.

Last the Designer Builders did the weight and the filling for the last bite for the party popper. For the filling we used the bom bom for the filling and the glitter stickers for the filling. After the filling we tested the party popper and saw if it worked.

I enjoyed this task because we tested our party popper. The party popper didn't work because all of the filling didn't come out. We could have finished testing the party popper to check if it worked first.

Basic Facts

  I did another basic facts and did up to 20 and did a speed demon challegne. 

I then put in my results. I did times table, My score was 100/100 and my time was 3 minutes and 49 seconds. 

 My time was 3 minutes and 49 seconds and impoved in my time.

Next time I will do this task I will practise my division and do them.  

Temperature and Length

 I measured temperature and capacity.  

I first did my measurements on capacity using large and small measuring cylinders. Then I fill up the cylinders with water. My measurements were 149 ML (149 millilitres), 63 ML (63 millilitres), 7 ML (7 millilitres), and 16 ML (16 millilitres). 

After that I did my temperature measurements. I used thermometers to check the temperatures. I filled up 2 lunch boxes hot and cold and measured the temperature. My Tempertures were 12°C (12 Celsius), and 36°C ( 36 Celsius)

I need to improve in reading thermometers because I was reading Fahrenheit instead of Celsius.

Party Popper Prototype

 My company Design Builders were making a party popper prototype.

First we thought about the parts. We also thought of the stopper. We chose paper because it better to lauch the fulling.

Second Design Builders assembled the parts of the prototype. When we assembled the party popper it stayed together and thought about some backups if this party popper bracks. 

To finish up we got all of the results for our party popper. We also wrote the current design, updated design options, and the rationale. 

I learned a lot about party poppers, how to make the party popper and the current designs.

Trebuchet

A trebuchet is a medivel weapon used to knock down castles.

This is an explanation about how trebuchets work.

Table Mat

 Today I was learning facts about recycling.

First I had to find 3 keywords in the book and a video. My keywords was recycling, shredded, pieces, paper, rubbish, rubbish trucks.

Then I had to find the define for the keywords. My defines was recycling and paper.

After I had to get photos about our define.

Last I had to write 4 facts about recycling.

This is a good task about reading because learning new recycling things and time line.

Maori

 Today I was doing a Maori test and a game of memory but in Maori.

First I was doing a Maori task about where the things are, Kei hea...?

Then we did a test about Maori words and see if we know them. I got 21/21 right. For example I had to do 21 questions on runga, raro, roto, and waho.

Last I played a game called memory. I had to find the right card but it was flip over and had to get the same one and had to look at the picture and say what it look like and say what you think in Maori. For example there was kapua, He hau kaha, hukarere, ua, tino makariri, tino wera, ra paki, ua whatu-hail, and rangi ataahua.

This was a fun task because it was a fun game of memory.    

Table Tennis

 Today I learned how to play table tennis for HPE and was playing table tennis.

First I had to hold the bat like a gun but my index finger is on the other slide of the bat.

Then I practiced bouncing the ball on the bat was my forehand. It was easier to bounce it on my forehand.

After I had to practice bouncing the ball with my back hand. This skill was the hardest because it always goes on my finger.

Last I had to practice doing a drop serve. I had to bounce the ball on my square and bounce it on your opponent's square.

This was a fun activity because I was doing a competition and playing table tennis.

Maori

I did an activity about Maori names.

First I did a Maori name and had to copy and paste it on my google doc. I did Maori names and had to write the english names by copying and pasting it. For example Paora is Paul.

Next I had to write the Maori names and had to write the colours in Maori as their last name.  For example a Maori name and put the colour but put it has Maori.

Lastly, I had to write my name and put it in Maori. For example I have to write my name but put the Maori the alphabet in.

This task was easy but the names were hard.
